What We Do | Strang Roofing & Maintenance Roofing Services
From quick fixes to major projects, Strang Roofing & Maintenance has been the roofing contractor Strang homeowners call for 24 years. Here's a rundown of what we offer.
Roof Replacement
Your roof replacement includes a full-system install: ice and water shield at eaves, valleys, and penetrations; synthetic underlayment across the entire deck; aluminum drip edge at rake and eave; starter strip with sealant; architectural shingles with 130+ mph wind rating; and continuous ridge vent for proper attic ventilation. We also install new pipe boots and vent flashing on every penetration.

Our roof repair process: inspect the issue, identify the root cause, quote the fix, do the work, warranty the repair. Simple. If the root cause is widespread (poor ventilation causes ice dams, for example), we'll recommend addressing that too. But the choice is always yours.

After every major storm in Strang, out-of-town companies flood the area offering free inspections. They're not all bad, but many are. We're local, we're licensed, and we'll be here to honor the warranty. Storm chasers won't be.

Color options in metal roofing are virtually unlimited. Matte black, charcoal, forest green, copper penny, barn red, slate blue. We order custom colors from Sheffield Metals and McElroy Metal with 40-year fade warranties. Your house, your style.

Asphalt shingles cover more homes in America than every other roofing material combined. There's a reason. They're affordable, they look good, they last 25-50 years depending on the grade, and they come in dozens of colors and profiles. Our Strang crews have installed thousands of shingle roofs and we know the product better than most roofers in the state.

The number one cause of flat roof failure is ponding water. Standing water that doesn't drain within 48 hours after rain. We solve ponding by installing tapered insulation systems that create positive slope to drains, scuppers, or roof edges. Minimum 1/4" per foot of slope eliminates standing water.

We install Carlisle SynTec and Firestone TPO membrane systems in 60-mil and 80-mil thickness over minimum R-25 polyiso insulation (more in climate zones requiring it). Seams hot-air welded at 900°F+ and tested with a seam probe. Fully adhered systems for wind uplift zones per FM I-90 or I-120. Mechanically attached for re-roofs over existing insulation. NRCA member, trained per manufacturer specifications.

We hang gutters with hidden hangers screwed into the rafter tails or fascia board every 24 inches max. No spike-and-ferrule, no exposed hardware. Proper pitch is 1/4" per 10 feet toward each downspout. Too flat and water sits. Too steep and it looks wrong.

Annual inspections catch small problems early. A cracked pipe boot is a $150 repair. A year of water leaking through that crack causes $3,000+ in ceiling, insulation, and drywall damage. We recommend an inspection every 2-3 years for newer roofs, annually for roofs over 15 years.

Our trucks carry 20x30 reinforced tarps, 2x4 lumber, plywood sheets, pipe boots, ridge cap shingles, flashing stock, roofing cement, and neoprene screws. We show up ready to secure your roof, not ready to schedule a follow-up appointment.

VELUX FS (fixed) and VS (vented) skylights installed with EDL flashing kits for shingle roofs. The multi-step flashing integrates with the surrounding shingle courses per IRC R903.2. We frame the curb with doubled 2x8 or 2x10 lumber (depending on rafter depth), install ice and water shield membrane around the entire curb perimeter, then set the skylight with factory sealant before weaving step flashing into the field. Top headwall flashing tucks under the upslope shingle course. Bottom sill pan diverts water onto the downslope shingles. Zero exposed sealant joints. Mechanical flashing only.
